By Tony Hallett, 27 April 1999 17:45

NEWS Retail group, Kingfisher is to take the free Internet Service Provider (ISP) model into continental Europe - initially trying to do for France what Freeserve did for the UK. The retail giant will launch Libertysurf, which will be made available through the company's Darty chain of French stores. Kingfisher is teaming up with France's Group Arnault for the service and similar alliances are expected in other markets - for example in Italy where the free ISP bandwagon is already gathering speed.
