Amazon.com launches e-cards

NEWS Online bookseller Amazon.com has added a new service to its US site - virtual greeting cards. The site offers over 800 different cards and animations which can be emailed with a personal message. Amazon.com also posted its first quarter results on Wednesday. It lost $36.4m on sales of $294m a turnover improvement of 236 per cent on the same period last year. Analysts welcomed the results and claimed the future looks bright for the company. The bookseller said it has over eight million customers and 66 per cent of orders in the last quarter came from repeat buyers. Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, said in a statement that the auction service - launched last month - is also performing well.
