NEWS Alcatel has been awarded a £300,000 contract to provide a communications system and LAN (local area network) for Birmingham-based Chamberlain Hotel Group. Two Chamberlain hotels will use a single Alcatel 4400 digital communications platform to support their hotel management systems and enable improved facilities to customers such as ISDN links, videoconferencing facilities and voice messaging. The system will be managed via Microsoft Windows, enabling calls to information desks to be answered in the appropriate language and room orders to be easily logged.
