NEWS Pearson Television has extended its use of Lotus Domino to over 1,200 staff in 20 countries around the world. According to Nigel Dixon, Pearson TV's head of information systems and technology, Domino enables fast replication and enables calendar and database users - who may be logging in remotely via the Internet from smaller offices - to share up-to-date information. He said the company had considered alternatives such as Microsoft Exchange. "We've found Web-enabled Domino databases to be very useful and as a result of our successful roll out we're now looking at the possibility of using products like Domino.doc [a Lotus collaboration tool]," Dixon said. He added that Domino was simple to deploy and offered secure access to corporate information. It will initially be used to develop a global address book. Pearson is known for producing TV soap favourites like Baywatch, The Bill and Neighbours.
