Freeserve rules UK

NEWS Freeserve is dominating the UK Internet service provider (ISP) battle with almost a third of home Internet users reporting to have an active account with the company, according to the latest report from Fletcher research. The study, called 'Internet Access Strategies: Freeing the Future', shows UK consumers have been quick to embrace free ISPs. Although AOL still reigns as the third largest ISP with 9 per cent of the market, Fletcher believes it will face an increasing challenge to hold on to that market share over coming months. The research house forecasts 20 million adults will be online by 2003. Another company to jump on the free ISP bandwagon is media group, GWR, who this morning announced that Classic FM will offer a subscription-free ISP.
