Newbridge to buy Stanford Telecommunications

NEWS Newbridge Networks has agreed to buy Stanford Telecommunications in a straight stock swap deal worth an estimated $280 million. Newbridge wants to keep the company's broadband wireless division and merge it with its own, according to US wires. The rest of Stanford - SATCOM Ground Systems, Communications Systems Integration, Applied Technology Operation - will be sold off. The deal is dependent on regulatory and share holder approval, which could be provided by November.
