Texas Instruments opens DSL modem plant

NEWS Texas Instruments (TI) is opening a DSL (digital subscriber line) modem factory in Bejing, China, with Legend Group - the country's largest PC maker. The two companies will work together on a DSL consumer modem based on TI's DSL chips. The chip works for ADSL, which runs at 8Mbps, and G.Lite at 1.5Mbps. The two firms will also work together on other DSL applications like Internet phones, digital printers and routers.
