Bank of Scotland outsources telecoms network

NEWS The Bank of Scotland has outsourced its telecoms network to BT Syncordia in a £100m deal. The five-year contract will see BT Syncordia install an IP network in addition to managing the company's current communications infrastructure. The Bank of Scotland said it outsourced the telcoms network in order to concentrate on its core business. The bank will rely on BT Syncordia to bring in third-party technology where necessary. The jobs of the 46 technical specialists already working for the bank have been protected, although the majority will relocate to BT's Edinburgh office. The move is the latest in Bank of Scotland's push towards greater presence on the Web. In June, the company launched an ISP, BoSInternet.com, with BTClick. An online banking project is planned to go live this autumn.
