NEWS Inktomi has won a contract from the Financial Times to have its search and directory engines used in the ft.com portal site. The technology, which will be incorporated by November, is supposed to help users navigate the site. An Inktomi spokeswoman said ft.com is aiming to be a vertical portal - or 'vortal' - for the financial sector. The move comes as the publication tries to raise its profile and differentiate its services in the crowded North American market.
