AOL launches charity portal

NEWS AOL this week launched http://www.helping.org - an umbrella site for donating funds to US charities. The site, which is funded by the AOL Foundation, provides a database of over 620,000 US-based non-profit organisations for surfers to choose from. The list includes environmental, human rights, arts, education and health organisations. Helping.org transfers funds electronically between participating banks, at no cost. The American Red Cross and the National Urban Leagues are among its partners.
