NEWS Cable & Wireless has opened the first of 20 worldwide Web-hosting centres in Reston, Virginia, USA. The centres will be on the Group's global IP network with the next six - to be located in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Sydney, Munich and Santa Clara, California - to be opened within a year. The telco said the centres will enable it to offer customers faster Web sites as well as more advanced ecommerce applications and guaranteed performance levels. Estimates from Forrester research suggest that the Web-hosting market will rise from $3bn to $23bn by 2002.
