NEWS Local area networking (LAN) equipment revenues are to jump 14.8 per cent from their 1998 value, representing a worldwide market worth $2.6bn by the end of this year, according to a report from IDC. The report released this week also predicts that market growth will reach $3.3bn by 2003. The report assigns increase to competitive price pressures and chip integration, as well as an increasing drive for ever-higher specification chips to enable the convergence of voice, data and video transmission over LAN.
