NEWS Liberate Technologies and Cable & Wireless Communications (C&W) have announced a deal to offer fully interactive digital TV operating according to Internet standards. The companies are claiming the service is a world first and that it has already attracted 46,000 customers. The technology should allow cable companies to offer Internet services like email, ecommerce, news and Web surfing. Liberate's Connect server software runs on Sun Solaris machines hosted by C&W.
