Ericsson successful in Birmingham's NEC/ICC expansion bid

NEWS The NEC Group's National Exhibition Centre and International Convention Centre are to be served by a £1.2m telecoms network from Ericsson. The Birmingham-based facilities get 2,180 extensions, based on Ericsson's modular MD110 PBX switching platform and DNA Dynamic Network Administration functionality for network management. The NEC said it put the contract out to tender but the Swedish equipment manufacturer beat four other bidders because of the flexibility of its technology. A call centre for bookings at the centres, based on Ericsson's ACP6000 system, has also been installed.
