UK company directors have conquered technofear, reveals survey

NEWS Company directors in the UK aren't the tech-frightened Luddites some commentators like to describe them as. Although 5 per cent still do not have email access at their work desktops, three-quarters have full email and Internet access at home, a survey by Mori has revealed. However, only 27 per cent of the directors questioned use the Net from their laptops, and fewer have used mobile Internet applications from their cellular phones. BT Cellnet, which commissioned the research, maintains mobile Internet access will take off over the next four years through developments such as WAP and high-speed GPRS, meaning more executives will get online. The survey was conducted with 102 directors from FTSE 500 companies.
