Boots opts for Nortel networking solution

NEWS Boots Company, owner of Boots the Chemists and six other operating companies, has turned to Nortel Networks to connect its disparate, increasingly global workforce. Boots - traditionally a user of 3Com networking equipment - is using Nortel's Contivity Extranet Switch (CES) 4000 for a project called ROAM (Remote Office Access Method). Already over 200 staff use ROAM, mostly at Boots' Nottinghamshire headquarters. A global rollout for up to 3,000 employees is possible, the retailer said. Boots also cited strong support from Nortel reseller NetWise Systems as a reason for using the technology. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
