iaxis to use Juniper routers to build IP network

NEWS iaxis, a pan-European carrier services provider, has announced it will use routers from Juniper Networks to build out its IP network, used by telcos such as Deutsche Telekom Juniper's M40 routers will be supplied and installed by K-NET/Telindus in a deal worth $30m to the systems integrator. Mike Woodman, Internet business development director at iaxis, said the Juniper equipment was chosen because it is telco grade and designed from the ground up with the Internet in mind. Tony Morrish, Juniper regional manger EMEA, said the deal is a major endorsement over rival vendors Cisco and Nortel. Juniper uses ASIC hardware technology to drive performance and only concentrates on the Internet service provider and telco markets. iaxis will deploy the M40 routers across its iaxiscore sites in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, New York and Paris, using features such as Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) to achieve access speeds from E1 (2.048Mbps) to STM-16 (2.5Gbps). K-NET has been a Juniper partner since May this year, and said it expects further contracts as iaxis builds out its network.
