NEWS UK domain name registrar, NetBenefit, has acquired former rival, NetNames, in £1.1m cash deal today. NetNames was the brainchild of outspoken Net guru, Ivan Pope, who will remain involved with the company through his position on the board. The combined company through a pooling of customer base and profile will become a market leader in both European and US markets, according to Tom Barrett, CEO of NetNames. Pope claimed the partnership is the best possible outcome for both companies. The deal also includes the trade of almost three million NetBenefit ordinary shares.
