NEWS Five leading security vendors have joined forces to create a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) forum designed to accelerate adoption and acceptance of the technology. According to the forum's members, Baltimore Technologies, Entrust, IBM, Microsoft and RSA Security, it will enable the development of, and adherence to, standards-based interoperable PKI. Membership of the forum is open to vendors, service providers, consultants, integrators and end-user organisations that have demonstrated an interest in PKI technology. In addition to the founding members, the forum also includes other leading vendors including BT, Hewlett-Packard, Novell, Sun/Netscape Alliance and Trustpoint. The forum will hold a series of open meetings at the RSA annual user conference in San Jose, California, 17-21 January 2000. See http://www.pkiforum.org for more information.
