eBay to trace legitimacy of $10m domain name bid

NEWS Online auction house, Ebay, is trying to determine whether a $10m bid for the domain name, Year2000.com, is legitimate. If the deal is completed it will mark the highest sum ever paid for a domain name, eclipsing the $7.5m paid for business.com last November. Bidding opened on eBay at $1m on 22 December but quickly rose to $10m by its close on 2 January. eBay said it hopes to establish the legitimacy of the bid by the end of this week.
