France Telecom cuts leased line tariffs

NEWS France Telecom has lowered its leased line tariffs, effective from 1 January. For the telco's Transfix lines, basic throughput has been upgraded from a starting rate of 64Kbps to 128Kbps, with monthly subscription fees cut by 15 per cent on average, depending on distance. Service activation and subscription rates have also been reduced by 10-38 per cent for higher speed circuits at 1,920, 1,984 and 2,048Kbps, and 34 and 155Mbps. The company said its international digital leased lines have come down in price. Most of Europe's former state-owned PTOs have been forced to cut leased line prices in the face of competition and pressure from users.
