Newbridge looks to outsource its manufacturing arm

NEWS Newbridge Networks has said it will open itself up to bids to outsource its manufacturing in a bid to help cut costs following its sixth earnings warning in ten quarters. The company has been looking to trim costs and cut 700 jobs at the end of 1999. The announcement follows news earlier this month that the company was awarded a $200m contract to provide network equipment and service management capabilities for New Edge Networks, a national wholesale DSL provider in the US.
