Camelot keeps faith with GTech

NEWS Camelot will retain GTech as its software supplier as it bids to renew its national lottery licence up until 2008. Although GTech claims to have won 80 per cent of all online lottery contracts worldwide since 1996, it faced problems when the first UK lottery franchise was up for grabs in 1994. Guy Snowdon, chairman of the US gaming group, was charged with attempting to bribe Richard Branson, head of the Virgin Group, into not bidding for the deal. GTech sold its shares in Camelot and Snowdon resigned.
