Cisco pays $567m for Altiga and Compatible in VPN drive

NEWS Cisco is to pay $567m for Altiga Networks and Compatible Systems in an attempt to boost its virtual private network (VPN) technology. The internetworking giant will exchange $567m worth of stock for all outstanding options, shares and warrants in the two companies. The companies will become part of Cisco's enterprise line of business. Altiga is a provider of VPN systems for remote access applications while Compatible Systems provides VPN's for service provider networks.
