Microsoft and Virgin join forces in Lottery bid

NEWS The UK's most successful entrepreneur is joining forces with the world's richest man to bid for the National Lottery contract. Microsoft will become part of the non-profit People's Lottery consortium lead by Richard Branson, chairman of Virgin. The group already includes US gaming company, AWI; Cisco Systems; and consultants, KPMG. Bids for the second seven-year lottery licence must be in by next month; the current Camelot licence will expire in 12 months. Microsoft will provide software for lottery terminals, a lottery Web site, interactive TV and mobile handsets.
