NEWS Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation is rumoured to be in alliance talks with Yahoo! in a deal that could rival the Time Warner/AOL tie-up. According to reports in the New Yorker magazine, Jerry Yang, co-founder of Yahoo!, and Peter Chernin, president of News Corp, have discussed a deal that would involve a stock swap between Yahoo! and News Corp's satellite division. Any alliance would give Yahoo! access to News Corp's print and broadcast content while providing the media giant with an established Internet outlet. News Corp shares were up just over five per cent on Monday morning on the strength of the rumours.
