Cirrus Logic joins InterTrust for secure music distribution

NEWS Chip maker Cirrus Logic has teamed up with InterTrust to supply system-on-a-chip (SOC) technology for Internet audio players. The aim is to allow secure distribution of content. The SOCs, which go by the name Maverick, mark an attempt by InterTrust to hard-wire its digital rights management technology into devices. While the latest deal will affect future MP3 and Windows Audio Media players, InterTrust has also recently made content, distribution and technology deals with companies such as QDesign and iGroup, the ebusiness division of Computacenter.
