NEWS Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, has put his faith in RealNames, the Web-based naming system that uses everyday language, in a deal that will see the software giant take a 20 per cent stake in the company. Ballmer told an audience at PC Forum, Arizona this week that RealNames would be used in the search facilities of MSN and Internet Explorer, the company's portal and browser. RealNames Internet Keywords will allow users of Explorer 3.0 and above, and MSN Search, to locate Web sites by simply entering a company name or product. Ballmer said this means users avoid having to enter "cumbersome URLs".
