Iceland reinvents itself as an e-company

NEWS Supermarket group, Iceland, is to re-branded itself with its Web name Iceland.co.uk. The company, known for its anti-GM food stance and promotion of organic and frozen goods, said it will spend £8m over the next 18 months updating its 760 stores, 450 lorries, home delivery vans and packaging. In a statement Malcolm Walker, chairman of Iceland, criticised competitors who haven't attempted to merge Internet and traditional retailing, and then market them together. Iceland launched its Web shopping service last year.
