BT buys chain of mobile phone shops

NEWS British Telecom is to strengthen its retail presence by spending £40 million on a chain of mobile phone shops. BT already owns 40 per cent of The Mobile Phone Store, comprising 129 stores across the country. The company was started by Mike McComb in 1993 - he will remain with the company to oversee the changeover. This brings the total number of shops controlled by BT Cellnet to 300.
