NEWS German telco Deutsche Telecom (DT) has confirmed it is interested in bidding for a French UMTS licence. A spokesman said France was a very important part of the company's European strategy and it was interested in licences in all the major European countries. However, the company said it was waiting for clarification from the French government as to the form the bidding process will take before it makes a definite decision to participate. French industry secretary Christian Pierret said Thursday that the Government would announce in six weeks whether the bidding process would be a beauty contest with applicants judged on assets or an auction.
