NEWS The Internet Content Adaptation Protocol Forum has agreed to the first draft of an open standard for Web companies to alter the layout and content on Web sites depending on who is trying to access them.
The standard will allow an Internet Service Providers (ISP) to alter the language of a Web site, or the adverts displayed on it, and personalise it according to the user requesting the page.
For example, if an ISP received a request for a page from a mobile phone browser it could use the protocol to reformat the page accordingly.
The protocol can be downloaded from www.i-cap.org
