UPC pulls out of SBS purchase

NEWS Dutch cable operator United Pan-Europe Communications (UPC) has abandoned its plans to purchase European broadcaster SBS. The company said the decision to pull out was made because of SBS's falling share price - which dropped a further 18 per cent last Friday. UPC already owns 23 per cent of SBS and the deal to purchase the remaining stake would have been the company's biggest venture to date.
