EC launches portal to boost European tourism

NEWS The European Commission is to use the Internet to advise the European tourist industry on the help it offers for building and increasing visitor numbers. In a statement, the Commission said the guide, called the Internet Roadmap, would provide information on EU programmes such as staff training, business skills as well as data on research and technological developments. The guide also provides information on target groups of tourists, budget allocations and grant rates. The site also points to other European Web sites offering further information such as the Commission's Euro Info Centres Network. The Commission said it would translate the site, which is currently available as an English-only version, into other European languages at a later stage.
