Motorola reports on changing attitudes of high-tech UK

NEWS Motorola today released the sixth issue of a regular report on British attitudes to technology showing overwhelming support for toll free access. The MORI run survey also pinpointed broadband access as a primary concern, with half of the sample citing it. The report also claims British users are growing accustomed to the idea of buying goods over the Internet. Although only eight per cent of respondents currently use ecommerce, 31 per cent said they were prepared to do so. On the negative side, the number of people worried about the issue of security over the Web is increasing. This figure rose from 34 per cent last year to 42 per cent in 2000. The figures tally with an earlier report out from research consultancy Inteco, conducted in the third quarter of 1999. Using a sample of 1000 Internet users, Inteco found a similar proportion of UK users concerned about security. This was compared to 44 per cent in France, but only 29 per cent in Germany.
