Sports sites set to exercise their growth potential

NEWS Sports related websites are set to increase their revenue growth because of their ability to harness multiple revenue streams, such as ecommerce, advertising and sponsorship. A report from research firm Screen Digest predicts sport sites will flourish, with advertising revenue for sport sites reaching $6.27bn by 2005. The study claims visitors to sport sites are more affluent than most internet users. A typical visitor is said to be university educated with an average income of between $40,000 to $60,000. The report also stated online sales of sports merchandise is to increase from $186m to $5.8bn.
