NEWS The European Commission (EC) wants the four mobile telecom companies in the UK to slash their international call charges. International roaming charges from BT Cellnet, One2One, Orange and Vodafone AirTouch will be investigated by the EC's Competition Commission, headed by Mario Monti, to see if they are in breach of competition, according to reports in the Independent on Sunday. Once the investigation is complete, powers will be given to the Independent Regulators' Group to police charges.
