Irish president signs encryption Bill with click of a mouse

NEWS Ireland has become the first European country to sign its ecommerce and digital signature act with a digital signature. Mary McAleese, the Irish president, put her electronic signature on the Bill during a ceremony held at Aras an Uachtarain (the House of the President). The Bill offers protection to users of encryption and forbids the police from demanding users to hand over encryption keys. For related news and opinion, see
