Yesmail clears its name of spamming accusations

NEWS The Mail Abuse Prevention System (Maps), a US organisation set up to prevent email abuse, has backed down from its fight with online marketing company, Yesmail.com. According to a report in the Independent on Sunday, the non-profit making organisation has agreed to negotiate a settlement. Maps alleged Yesmail was spamming users with its advertising material and blacklisted the company. But the marketing company claimed its 'permission based' system was legitimate and filed a suit to prevent its inclusion on the list of spammers. The backdown could encourage other blacklisted firms to appeal against their inclusion.
