NEWS The number of Italian internet users is growing at a rate of 500,000 a month, according to European research house MT&T. The report claims there has been a 36 per cent increase in surfers since September last year bringing the number of users to 11.6 million. However, the country is not expected to pass the ten per cent penetration rate until later this year. The UK and Germany already have more than ten per cent of their populations using the internet. The latest figures show that 9.5 million Italians log on once a month, but more than six million go online weekly. MT&T predicts the number of Italians online will double by the end of the year.
