NEWS Online bookseller Amazon.com has signed an agreement with Toys 'R' Us to build an online games and toy store. Under the agreement, Amazon will be in charge of the design, order fulfilment and customer services while Toys 'R' Us will buy and manage the entire inventory. The online toy industry has been through tumultuous time with a number of ventures such as Toytime.com, Toysmart.com and RedRocket.com, closing down. Sarah Skinner, industry analyst at Durlacher research, commented: "Amazon's work on their affiliate network is vital for their business, as without the backing of some bricks they will face a tough time. In addition, building up the infrastructure required is expensive and strategic partners will be able to facilitate this." The store is expected to go live during the autumn.
