BBC's commercial Net services in £240m merger

NEWS The BBC has merged its commercial internet operations, and sold a 13.5 per cent stake in newly created division to a US investor for £32.5m. According to the latest reports, the broadcasting organisation has brought together beeb.com and freebeeb.net to create Beeb Ventures with an estimated value of £240m. US-based TH Lee Global Internet Manager will take a 13.5 per cent slice of the organisation. The company justified its investment with claims that beeb.com will become the number one ecommerce site in the UK.
