EC to block AOL/Time Warner merger

The European Commission has rejected the remedies submitted by AOL and Time Warner and decided to block the proposed merger of the two companies over fears the deal will create a monopoly.

NEWS The companies have until next Sunday to come up with more concessions in order to save the $125bn deal. The draft decision was circulated after the Commission threatened to block a deal between Time Warner and UK music giant, EMI. The EC will receive a package of proposals to push through this deal today.
