Worldcom to appeal EU merger decision

Worldcom and Sprint are to appeal the European Commission's decision that their proposed merger was anti-competitive.

NEWS Worldcom said in a statement that the EC "fundamentally misperceived both how internet services are provided and the highly competitive nature of the internet marketplace". The Commission ruled that the merger would create too dominant a player in the internet access market.
