Disturbing e-tail results from Trading Standards

Online shopping is unreliable, insecure and in many cases more expensive than buying through retail outlets, according to a survey out today by the Trading Standards Institute.

NEWS The survey, which tested 102 internet companies, found that 38 per cent of orders did not arrive on time and 17 per cent did not arrive at all. Even more worrying was the finding that a quarter of the sites tested were not secure enough to protect credit card details and personal data from hackers. Although no names were mentioned, the Trading Standards Institute claimed those failing their customers included some of the big names in retailing.
