Short but sweet: Austrian 3G bidding ends on day two

Austrian bidding for third generation mobile phone licences has ended on only the second day, with all six bidders obtaining two blocks of frequency at a combined total of E706m (£419m).

NEWS The money raised from the auction exceeded the government's minimum pricing by E100m (£60m). Winning telcos include Tele Danmark's Connect Austria, Deutche Telekom, Hong Kong's Hutchison Whampoa, Spain's Telefonica, Telecom Italia, Telekom Austria, and Vodafone's tele.ring.
