Telewest ramps up revenues and losses in Q3 results

Telewest Communications posted third quarter results today reporting an increase in both loss and revenue.

NEWS Losses have grown to £178.3m and revenue has risen 41.2 per cent to £814m. Telewest, the second largest cable TV operator in the UK, has increased cashflow, helped by an 8.7 per cent increase in monthly revenue per consumer customer to £37.49. Telewest acquired Cable London and Flextech earlier in the year and is currently rolling out digital TV services. Marketing of the service, Active Digital, was resumed in October, following problems with shortages of memory chips for their set-top box supplies. Adam Singer, group chief executive, said: "We are confident that we will reach our revised target of 500,000 digital sales by the end of the first quarter of next year." Telewest have appointed Bob Fuller as new CEO for the cable division. He will be joining them next month from Orange where he is currently chief operating officer (UK). By Nik Hole
