SITA unites its business partners

SITA, the international communications network used by the air transport industry, is to pool its resources with those of Equant, France Telecom, and GlobalOne.

NEWS The deal comprises a series of agreements and stake holdings. Equant, the data networking firm spun off from SITA and a takeover target for some time, will acquire France Telecom's GlobalOne subsidiary, which provides voice and data services to large companies around the world. Meanwhile, France Telecom will buy SITA's 34 per cent holding in Equant to own a majority 54 per cent of what it calls "the new Equant". SITA said the deal will allow it to serve the air industry better.
