LSE shareholders favour alliance over merger

LSE shareholder group Apcims has announced its members favour an alliance option, rather than a merger, for the exchange.

NEWS According to the UK Daily Telegraph, Apcims polled around one-third of its shareholders, who collectively supported an alliance venture with Nasdaq, in order to preserve the 200-year-old exchange. However, UBS Warburg, the exchange's biggest shareholder, favours a link up with Euronext to assure the LSEs position as a high-tech bourse.
