Amazon crashes on busiest shopping day of the year

Amazon.com suffered an outage on Friday, crippling its service for a part of the day after Thanksgiving, often regarded as one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

NEWS Amazon.com customers, hoping to shop on the site were greeted by a message which stated 'We'll be right back', which remained during the 30 minute period the site was out of action. In the second of two major outages by the online retailer, Amazon couldn't offer any real explanation for the half-hour loss of trading. Despite the downtime, Amazon's share price rose 15 per cent to close at $28.
